EA wants a battlefield

The boss of Respawn Entertainment becomes a new patron of the Battlefield brand, with the EA so a lot.

Battlefield fans have not been easy for years. Battlefield 5 turned out to be flop despite playful qualities as a flop because DICE did not provide it with enough content that the fans also wanted to have, and the release of Battlefield 2042 in November proved to be a great disaster. Something like this can quickly mean the end of a brand in this day, but Publisher Electronic Arts has different plans. He wants to further expand the Battlefield franchise — and delivers dice the main responsibility for the series.

Let's start that EA would like to create a battlefield universe, as Game spot reports. What that means does not explain less than Vince Capella. The boss of Respawn Entertainment (Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi: Fall Order) is now the new patron of the Battlefield brand. He should manage the realignment and realize that you do not intend to replace Battlefield 2042 through new games.

This is a 'and' strategy in many ways, says Capella. We will evolve and grow Battlefield 2042 and explore new types of experiences and business models, it continues to say. He speaks of characters and narratives who should share several games. A project that will be part of this new universe is already announced: Industrial Toys, the studio of Bungee co-founder Alex Serbian, is currently working on Battlefield Mobile, which will appear next year.

In general, more studios will work on own projects within the Battlefield franchise in the future, when it was so far the case. Ripple Effect, formerly Dice L.a., is already working on a new experience in the universe of Battlefield 2042. What it has on itself is not known. However, the studio will continue to work on content for Battlefield Portal.

Another team that will do with Battlefield in the future is that of Marcus Lento. This year has started working at EA after his own company had to close V1 interactive due to the failure of disintegration. The new studio of the former halo developer in Seattle has no name yet and is still under construction. But it is already clear that it should expand the story of Battlefield 2042 in the form of a variety of experiences. That says Byron Bede, who was also recruited by Electronic Arts this year. The Call of Duty veteran should help the brand to new heights and will now work together with Vince Capella. According to him, what Lento's team creates in later seasons from Battlefield 2042 and beyond.

The news does not stop at this point. You ask you determined what is with Dice. Well, the Swedes will of course continue to work on Battlefield 2042. The shooter is designed as a service er game and the first season has not even begun. This is to happen only in early 2022, an exact date is not yet known. The work on new content but no longer oversees Oskar Gabriel son. He has now proclaimed to withdraw from his place as a general manager and leave EA at the end of the year. His successor is Rebecca Costar, who has worked for the last ten years at Ubisoft Annecy (Riders Republic).

You notice: It is a lot going on in the course at Electronic Arts in relation to Battlefield. The coming years will show how many games will send us to us and whether the brand can find out old strengths as a large, affiliated universe.
